On 19th March, 1915, two companies of the 2nd Gloucestershire battalion of 81 Brigade, 27th Division left their billets in Dickebusch and relieved the 1st Argylle & Sutherland Highlanders in nearby trenches at New Farm. The relief was completed by 9.30pm after which there was a good deal of rifle fire directed at them as a result of which Albert Searles was killed.
